Do you want to get an MBA degree but you’re torn between that and pursuing a law degree? If so, you don’t need to choose between the two because you can pursue both by enrolling yourself in a joint JD and MBA program. Completing the program will earn you the degrees of Juris Doctor and Master in Business Administration. Enrolling in a full-time joint JD and MBA program typically means that you will finish the course in four years, a year less than you would if you enroll in two separate programs. Enrolling in a joint program will also cost you less. Keep in mind, though, that if you choose the part-time program offered by schools, it will take you longer to finish.

How to Get the Joint JD and MBA degree

It’s advisable for you to do some research on schools offering this kind of program and assess their requirements and determine how their program works. There are universities offering these programs simultaneously, while there are those that require you to choose between the two (JD or MBA) and start with that on your first year. When applying for a joint program, you must meet the minimum requirements of both schools, including passing both the LSAT and GMAT. Make sure that you indicate your desire to enroll in the joint program when you submit your admissions essay.

Why it’s advisable to enroll in the Joint JD and MBA program

Now that the field of business is broadening and there are many legal issues involved, getting a joint JD and MBA degree makes you more eligible for top management positions. It will be easier for you to resolve issues and tackle legal concerns. You will also be well-equipped with the knowledge needed to execute strategic decisions and conduct day-to-day operations. Aside from that, you can pursue a career as a business lawyer when you get your joint JD and MBA degree.
